One of Hospice Africa’s key objectives is the improvement of palliative care services in Uganda, and across Africa, through advocacy, education and training. To fulfil this objective, the Education Department offers courses available to workers from range of disciplines to ensure a broad reach, and with a curriculum specially adapted to the needs of the African setting.
Courses are available to practitioners including nurses, doctors, traditional healers and also community volunteers. More information on these courses can be found here.
More recently, a Bachelor of Science in Palliative Care distance learning programme has been set up by Hospice Africa Uganda in partnership with Makerere University. This builds on the well-establishedPalliative Care Certificate and Diploma programmes. This three-year programme is the first of its kind.
